Yes, this actually happened - and yes, I’m sharing it with the internet.

I’d just started using my my mimi menstrual disc and honestly, I was feeling a little smug about how well I’d mastered it. No leaks, no strings, no drama. Until... drama.

Picture this: I’m curled up on the couch with my boyfriend watching a rom-com. I sneeze. Not a cute little sneeze - a full-body, shake-the-windows kind of sneeze. And in that instant, I feel something shift.

I freeze. He notices. I mumble something about needing the bathroom and shuffle away like a guilty cat. I make it to the loo, sit down, and there it is. My disc. Just... there. Looking very proud of itself for making an exit on its own terms.

Now, I’m not blaming the disc. It had been doing a stellar job. This was operator error - I’d clearly not placed it high or snug enough. Lesson learned.

When I came back, my boyfriend asked if everything was okay. I told him my menstrual disc made a run for it. He blinked. I blinked. Then we both burst out laughing.

So yes, using a menstrual disc might have a learning curve, and yes, sometimes your vagina has other plans. But honestly? I’d still never go back to tampons or pads. My my mimi disc is comfy, reusable, and now... the star of one of the most unforgettable (and hilarious) moments of my period life.
