July is Alcohol Awareness Week, a time dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of alcohol-related issues. For women, understanding how alcohol consumption can affect our health is crucial. This week, let's explore how alcohol impacts women’s overall well-being, including its subtle effects on hormones and the menstrual cycle.
Alcohol Awareness Week is not just about recognising the dangers of excessive drinking; it’s also about educating ourselves on how even moderate alcohol consumption can impact our health. As women, we face unique challenges and risks associated with alcohol use. Understanding these can empower us to make informed choices about our consumption habits.
Physical Health
Women metabolise alcohol differently than men, which means we are often more susceptible to its effects. Even moderate drinking can increase the risk of developing chronic conditions such as liver disease, cardiovascular issues, and certain types of cancer.
